Beyond Five Stars

For over a decade, countless specialists and misdiagnoses starting at age four, I finally made an appointment for my fifteen-year-old to see Dr. Welch. I found him by searching online after walking out on a Harvard doctor at Boston’s Children saying “he just needs to lose weight.” All staff members at Atlantic Orthopaedics in both the Portsmouth and York offices were exceptional with us. Medical Records, Surgical Scheduling, and Dr. Welch and his Medical Assistant (Claire) are beyond five stars!!! Dr. Welch doesn’t usually do the procedure he did on my son unless it’s adults. We are grateful for his honesty and willingness to assist us. York Hospital where the surgery took place to fix a torn labrum/bone shaving was beautiful and had a safe COVID-19 plan in place. I highly recommend Atlantic Orthopaedics, and especially Dr. Welch!!!!!

Breaking My Leg

Atlantic is top-notch!  After breaking my leg a year ago and being treated non-operatively and having continued pain. They were able to get me in to see Dr. McMahon quickly who ordered an MRI which was done the same day in the office at Shields.  I followed up with Dr. Welch who was great!  I had surgery and am now feeling much better and well on my way to recovery and skiing this winter!

Surgeon Who Truly Cares

Thank you so very much for taking care of me Dr. Welch. And being so skilled at what you do. Everyday of my life will be better because of you.  I am very thankful to God for finally finding a surgeon who truly cares for his patients. And also thank you to all Atlantic orthopedic staff you guys rocks!!

2 Total Knee Replacements

I’ve had two knee replacements over the years. My problems started over 40 years ago when I was pregnant and fell on black ice. I was walking “bone-on-bone” for any number of years. Dr. Crawford did my first knee replacement in Newburyport five years ago, and then the second one in Portsmouth this past January. I can’t believe how much better I feel. I realize now that my back was horrible for all those years because my bad knees threw my entire body out of whack. Now I go up and down the stairs like a normal person. I really enjoy gardening which was a problem with my knee pain, so I am really looking forward to it this year. I left so many activities unfinished in the fall that now I can do. Of course, I followed Dr. Crawford to Portsmouth. He’s a personal favorite of mine, and I work with a lot of doctors. Any problem I have that involves a bone – I’m going to Portsmouth!
